About me

I am a trained psychotherapist and a professional coach, with 30 years' experience in business and finance, in both private and public sector, with the last 15-20 years in senior and strategic positions.  I am also an entrepreneur with 3 successful businesses.

I work with people in leadership positions to help them increase awareness, clarity and a sense agency in their lives, so they can expand their potential.

Because of my dual training, I am free to move from coaching to therapy and back again, depending on where my clients are in their journey and what support they require.   My business background lets me connect easily with my clients' work and personal context.

What sets my work apart is that rather than fixing 'behaviour', I focus on the underlying conflicts (which for the most part live in the unconscious) and support my clients in making new decisions about their internal (and external) lives.

This means the way I work differs from the majority of traditional coaching approaches, which are cognitive in nature and focus on thoughts and the conscious mind. I draw on principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy, transactional analysis, Gestalt and systems approaches.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

In partnership with Infinity Alpacas, I offer a limited number of sessions in animal-assisted therapy with alpacas, where clients can experience transformative impact of being in the presence of these magnificent animals.

My job is to create a space in which to think, feel, explore and experiment, make decisions and hold accountability. I will not preach, teach, fix or judge.

My role is to be a partner on your journey. I may point the torch into the dark corners, or put up a mirror so you can see your brilliance. If you are stuck in a dark place, I'll stay there with you - because facing it is better than running away from it. We'll mull over things together until you find your way.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Post-graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (2007) from the Univesity of Leicester
  • BACP registered psychotherapist
  • Professional Certified Coach (PCC), International Coaching Federation
  • Further training in organisational transactional analysis and redecision therapy

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
