About me

I’m Alex, a qualified integrative counsellor and therapist with sessions available in the City & East London (Shoreditch E1 and Hackney E8). I welcome individuals who are looking for both short-term work and longer-term therapy.

Counselling and therapy is always unique to you, and seeing a therapist can help with the range of struggles that we can experience in our lifetime. It may be that you have a specific issue that you want help to work through such as relationship difficulties, stress and anxiety, loss and grief, social withdrawal and isolation, a turning point/life-change, an addiction or behaviour you are concerned about, or abuse and trauma.

It could be that you are feeling generally lost, stuck, confused, distressed, or disconnected, or lacking in areas of your life that you can’t quite pin point and want help to move forward. You may feel a more general sense of wanting to gain awareness and explore patterns in your life to improve your self and your relationship with others.

My way of working with clients in our counselling sessions, draws on a range of different theory and approaches such as psychodynamic, relational, humanistic and existential. I value the importance of the unique relationship that can be created and developed between the client and therapist in order to help the client. I take a whole-person approach that encompasses the individual mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Finding a therapist that you feel you can work with may feel like a big step and a big commitment, as well as a significant financial investment in your well being.  So finding the right person for you is key. I recommend getting in contact with a few therapists to get a feel for how they might work together. I offer a telephone consultation of up to 15mins to find out a bit more about what you are looking for before we meet for our first 50-minute session. If we decide to meet in person we can explore more what is going on for you and how might work together, including whether a fixed number or session or more open-ended work is right for you.
