About me

Life can often feel like a rollercoaster, in which we can all experience some incredible highs, as well as unimaginable lows. We can experience distressing emotions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, loss and suicidal thoughts and many more which you’ll be able to name. However, it is during those periods of distress and uncertainty, we can often feel stuck, with no one to turn to, or no one who will understand. This is where a professional therapist can help.

As individuals, our experiences and emotions vary greatly. As a counsellor, my role is to provide a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you can openly share your unique experience. We can explore your thoughts and feelings, without fear of judgement and work towards finding the best path forward for you.

My approach

I am trained and work in a Person-Centred way. In a nutshell this means that I won't tell you what I think you 'should' do, or how you 'should' feel. Instead, I believe that deep down, you already know what you need to do, but might struggle to articulate those thoughts or struggle to take those first tentative steps towards change. Working together, we'll explore what you need and how best to work towards those goals.

I have also done specific training around working with women at different stages in life from pregnancy, motherhood and menopause.

Membership

I am a member of COSCA (Scotland's professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and follow their strict ethical codes of good practice.
