About me

I specialise in relationship therapy with couples or 1-1. I am a very experienced, warm, genuine, realistic and trustworthy person.

My interests are in relationship counselling (for individuals and couples). I know that issues from the past may be relevant to discuss and explore but also the here and now is important too to deal with.

Coming to any therapy could be very overwhelming for many people, causing anxieties.

I aim to work in a confidential, warm approachable way and for us to create a therapeutic relationship, which I think is vital for any work that we may do together in the future.

I love my work, and for anyone to gain insight into their lives through therapy whether it is emotional or behavioural, and  acknowledge that sometimes unhealthy patterns we get into and to be able to create healthier ones, for me is a priviledge to share. Finding the correct person to work with you is vital to the therapeutic work.

My earlier work was working with adults who had learning disabilities or mental health issues or both, which was very rewarding and insightful to me.

I also worked with the Sheffield Carers Centre for many years, as a voluntary Counsellor and again very rewarding to me.

At the moment I have a private practice at Cornerstone Therapy Centre, where you can also view my profile there. I do offer face to face counselling but at these times with the COVID 19, I am offering telephone or video counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a PG Certificate in Counselling and a Diploma in Counselling from Sheffield Hallam University 2002. I am a member of The BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I have nearly 20 years of counselling experience and the last 13 years of working in private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
