About me

Hello, I'm Yvonne a counsellor with sixteen years' experience working in mental health.

When the challenges of life rears its head, it can be difficult to cope with how you are feeling and thinking. It is at these times someone walking alongside you supporting you can be helpful. As I walk alongside you, I will help you to understand problems from a new perspective and discover ways of managing situations better.

I’m a counsellor as I believe in the process. I take great joy watching peoples’ lives being changed for the better as they engage with the counselling process with me; every individual is deserving of someone to listen to them.

I look forward to working with you as you go on a journey of transformation.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ATTEND COUNSELLING WITH ME.

You can expect a safe space that is confidential. I will go at a pace that is comfortable for you to share your thoughts and feelings freely without fear or criticism. As we work together, I will accept you for who you are, I will not tell you what to do or give you advice but guide you to find your own solutions.

TESTIMONIAL

"Working with you was a God send. Your deceptively quiet manner made me feel safe enough to open up honestly and authentically for the first time in a really long time. You gave me the space to talk about things. Hard things. Sad things. Things that made me angry. And through it all, you held the space for me, so that I felt seen and supported through it all. That’s not an easy thing to do and it’s a testament to how skilled you are.

Thank you so much for journeying with me. Thank you for letting me discover that which I needed to discover. Thank you for helping me to face things that needed to be faced. And thank you for helping me see that sometimes keeping it moving is not actually the best thing to do." -FJ

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
