By taking the time to talk through things that you are struggling with, can often help with helping you to understand the difficulty and manage how you are feeling. It can also provide an opportunity for you to explore and develop strategies to cope better. Everyone is deserving of someone who will listen to them and assist them to achieve a more fulfilling life.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IF YOU ATTEND COUNSELLING WITH ME.
You may have been thinking about attending counselling but not sure who to attend with. Deciding who to share your thoughts and feelings with can be a challenging or even daunting experience. My hope is that by sharing with you what you can expect if you attend counselling with me, will bring you one step closer to making a decision on who to attend counselling with.
If you decide to attend counselling with me you can expect that I will offer you a safe space that is confidential and non-judgemental, in the hope that you will feel comfortable to begin sharing your thoughts and feelings without fear or criticism. I will not tell you what to do or give you advice. Together we can go on a journey to help you understand problems from a new perspective, discover ways of managing situations better and help you make your own choices. I am passionate about what I do as a counsellor and take great joy in watching people’s lives being changed for the better, as they engage in the counselling process with me.
Before commencing ongoing sessions a consultation meeting is recommended. At this meeting we can explore together your needs and expectations. I will provide for you an understanding of how I work and a sense of my working style. There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and an opportunity to decide if you would like to continue or go away and think about what you would like to do. Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor, who adopts the psychodynamic model. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics.
I have sixteen years’ experience providing support to individuals experiencing a range of mental health issues. My experience also includes organising and delivering training to staff and individuals receiving mental health support, setting up and facilitating a carers group, carrying out research and providing recommendations for a mental health service.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
