About me

My name is Willie and I run Willie's Healing Feelings Counselling service.

Working on specific habits and patterns of thinking can have a positive impact on your self-worth, self-esteem and awareness of yourself. I am an accredited and registered counsellor with many years experience in working  therapeutically with people. If you are seeking to find meaningful answers and solutions for areas of difficulty in your life, such as addiction, depression, stress, anger, anxiety , suicidal thoughts, self-harm , grief and loss, to name a few, please reach out and get the support you deserve.

Coming to Counselling can feel daunting and scary as you may not know what to expect. I like to provide reassurance for such thoughts and help you to feel safe and secure. During our sessions, we will build up a connection, beginning in the initial consultation so that you feel safe to express the difficulties you are experiencing. Furthermore, I will provide a confidential and non-judgemental environment as this is essential for you to be able to feel secure enough to explore the  experiences and thoughts that have brought you to therapy.

My counselling approach is humanistic at its core, which means trusting that you as the client have your own emotional resources. I will help you to develop and be aware of the changes you wish to make, and to feel more positive and content and more confident at making decisions that are beneficial to you. I focus the therapy in a way that will assist you to engage on an emotional level. This can lead to the processing and understanding of blocked emotions and, in turn, you can become more open and emotionally available to yourself and others . My approach is client-led, with some integrated approaches which are implemented when required. For example, there are time I will use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), for understanding feelings and thoughts and Psychodynamic Theory for understanding your childhood and journey through life so far.

It is my belief that consistent change and growth can evolve when people are given the opportunity to engage in, explore and reflect on their life. This can help develop a new awareness and value for the person. Together we will work on the issues and distress that that have prompted you to seek help.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
