About me
Today become too much? Yesterday won't go away? Tomorrow looks like being the same?
I've been a therapist for twenty-five years, am Masters qualified and have been a Clinical Supervisor for fifteen years. I have worked with just about every difficulty in many settings and have been a clinical lead and manager to a large team. I am currently completing my Doctorate (relating to counselling people on the Autistic Spectrum).
I am currently working online only.
I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Counselling and Psychotherapy
Making the move towards counselling or psychotherapy takes real courage. Countless people think it was one of the best things they ever did. It is genuinely confidential and non-judgemental. It is supportive but offers challenge, too.
I use a variety of approaches depending on what suits you: you'll be treated as a person, not a problem. I work five days a week, daytime and evenings. Sessions last an hour, once a week is usual but not always.
Are you right for me?
After an initial chat we would arrange a First Meeting. This will give us a chance to decide how therapy might help and make arrangements for further sessions if we decide to go ahead. I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy only, not couples.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Studies, a first degree in Psychology and Philosophy, a Counselling Diploma and am a qualified clinical supervisor.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
