About me

Hello, I am Victoria, welcome to my profile. I understand the courage it will take to start your journey, finding a professional like myself can be helpful. I have a wealth of experience in client work, having dealt with a wide range of issues.

When life seems impossible, I will offer a safe space for you to explore a change in perception. I will explore your inner conflicts, understanding these may lead to exploring what fuels them. What is miscommunicated more than anything else, and making meaning to what is unsaid, this can be a powerful process, one I will facilitate with you.

My experience includes trauma therapy, supporting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Personality Disorder. (See list below of areas I support).

Learning coping techniques to use in daily life can be beneficial, I will offer stability in order for structure and routine to return, aiding function when transitioning during therapy.

I offer face to face and online appointments. I can tailor the process to suit your needs, also providing Walk and Talk Therapy sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I offer the following holistic approaches which can be used as coping techniques:

Mindfulness

Mindfulness practice can bring your attention into the present moment, non-judgmentally, developing skills through mindful meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation is a powerful way of controlling your mind. It is a Buddhist tradition that enables the mind to process and clear out negative thoughts, to eventually find spiritual and mental relaxation.

Mindfulness is a psychological process, enabling the here and now to be brought into the present moment. It is believed that control over the mind, enables the body to heal, for example feeling stressed or angry can raise blood pressure, potentially causing a heart attack or stroke, these feelings can eat away at the body. Holding tension within you, which can manifest into physical pain and further health problems. I will always be mindful of the environment being created.

Walk and talk therapy

Walking therapy is a shared activity, creating different ways to explore your counselling pathway. I will walk the path together with you. Being outdoors may help open your mind and improve your general health and wellbeing.

Natural outdoor settings aid relaxation, releasing endorphins and calms the mind enough to connect to the rhythm of what is going on around you, whilst building the therapeutic relationship.

Being outdoors may calm you, aid focus and thought processes, enabling you to make meaning of intrusive thoughts.

Creative, walking therapy can be particularly helpful when there are things you cannot say in words. I use a range of ways to express and develop meaning to what is coming up in the present.

I believe you cannot use up creativity, the more you use it, the more you have. Releasing creativity within, may bring you possibilities and allow you to discover new ideas. To explore limiting thoughts and negotiating life, can be difficult to express.

Creative, walking therapy sessions may help you discover who you truly are, and make sense of your world. "We are all just walking each other home"
