About me

Let me help you.  Whether you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start or perhaps struggling with a particular issue counselling therapy can be so beneficial.

I strive to provide accessible affordable counselling as I believe therapy should be available to everyone.  My charges are on a sliding scale between £45 - £55 (standard day rate is £45) Evenings & weekends are £55.

I have over 12 years experience as a counsellor working with a whole range of issues.  I am a warm friendly fun individual and work in an integrative way using my vast experience of different counselling approaches to help you explore whatever has bought you to seek therapy.

You will find me to be a warm genuine person who is easy to talk to and you will be surprised how quickly our first session together goes as I help you explore what’s going on for you.

As well as being a counsellor I also have a wealth of life experience to draw upon much of which was spent within in a military environment which led to me working with soldiers, veterans and their families, from this my vocation to become a counsellor began. I have experience of counselling within a hospice environment, a rape crisis centre and have also provided loss & bereavement training to unit welfare officers within the military,

You may feel slightly apprehensive about starting your first session but honestly it will be worth it.  Once you start sharing your issues within a professional environment you will experience how therapeutic this in itself can be.

As the sessions progress i will support you as you gain an insight into what is actually going on for you.  Sometimes this may lead to making small changes in order for change to happen or find coping strategies for things like anxiety and other mental health conditions.  For some people their journey may be about building confidence or they lack self esteem and together this is something we can explore and build upon.  For other people they are unsure where to start and don’t really understand what’s going on for them other than something in their life is leaving them feeling ‘stuck’ or just ‘low’  counselling can really help with this too.

There are just so many reasons why people come to counselling and it is impossible to list them all but I hope this has given you an insight in to some of them.

Although I work with all types of issues I also specialise in the areas of rape & sexual abuse, loss & bereavement and military life issues.

Throughout your therapy you will find that you will begin to make sense of your situation and gain clarity on things you may wish to change, you may find answers you have been looking for and overcome challenges you never thought possible.  You may have a better understanding of yourself and what is and is not acceptable to you.  You will gain new insights too which will enable you to feel happier about your life and wellbeing.

If you have found yourself on this site something in your life (or someone you know) is causing you concern.  Please do something about it, get the support you need.

It is a privilege to work with people from all walks of life and indeed across their through my online counselling.  No one is exempt from mental health issues. I have supported Police officers, military personnel, teachers, doctors, university lecturers. Social workers …. The list is endless, there are times when even the most hardy of us may need counselling support.

If you think you would like us to work together please contact me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
