About me

Hi, I'm Teresa. I am passionate in supporting my clients to work through their issues so they can lead the fulfilling lives they deserve. I am a professionally qualified Integrative counsellor, meaning I draw upon a range of styles and techniques. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to its ethical framework for counselling professionals. I provide counselling for adults 18+, offering short/long term therapy in person, online or by telephone.

I practice in an empathic, non-judgemental collaborative way, providing a safe, supportive and confidential space. I aim to create a trusting relationship where we can work together to explore and process your feelings, thoughts and behavioural patterns to help increase your self-awareness so you can make new choices.

I use an integrative approach which means I use a blend of therapeutic approaches and techniques, including CBT, mindfulness, and exploring the impact of your background and upbringing.

My main areas of expertise are domestic abuse, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, low confidence, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, bereavement and loss, cultural issues, loneliness, family issues and relationship and work difficulties.

If you would like to find out more, you can contact me by text, phone or email. I will respond to arrange a 5-minute phone chat to check I’m the right sort of counsellor for you. We can then book an initial 50-minute appointment to further explore how we might work together – and you will have a chance to meet me and ask any questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
