About me

Hi, my name is Susanne and I am a Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist based in Nottingham. I offer therapy face-to-face as well as on Zoom and over the phone.

Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I will sit with you in a safe, confidential space, listen to you and together we will get to know your inner world, however messy, complex and conflicted it may seem to begin with.  By hearing all of you with warmth and empathy we will gain a sense of how you got to where you are. There might be conflicting parts within your world (especially those that drive behaviour that you don’t like, that is seemingly ‘not you’) that need to be heard with great care and non-judgement to allow you to move forward in your life with purpose, agency and a sense of wholeness. For some people, this might mean going back to their childhood and addressing unresolved trauma that has left a lifelong imprint on their life and behaviour whilst others choose to work with the here and now only. In most cases we move between the two, always at the pace and at a depth that is right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Following previous careers in higher education and the arts, I feel lucky and privileged to have found my own professional ‘home’ in training as Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (MSc, Distinction). I have four years’ experience working with a wide range of clients of different genders, ages, sexual orientations and cultures with varied presentations and depth of issues. I have undertaken additional training that has allowed me to work with clients who have experienced ongoing childhood trauma, abusive relationships (physical/ emotional), compulsive coping strategies (such as OCD) as well as clients with ADHD. I have also undertaken a 8 week mindfulness training course that is particularly helpful for clients who use dissociation as a coping strategy. Some of my work is long term, helping clients address and move through the aftereffects of past trauma whilst others come  for a few sessions only to talk through a current set of immediate circumstances that need resolving. Wherever you are, I will meet you where you are.

I am accredited with the UKCP and I adhere to their codes and ethical framework. I have full professional indemnity insurance and enhanced DBS clearance.

I am a full clinical member of the following organisations:

UKCP:  Registered Clinical Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

HIPC: Registered Clinical Member of the Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College.

SPTI: Graduate Member of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute
