About me

Are you feeling anxious, sad, perhaps overwhelmed ,I provide a confidential, safe, non judgemental space to explore what is present for you in your current life situation. Therapy should be  an empowering and creative process and we will work together to find the best ways for you to share  how you are feeling,  difficulties in relationships  and current and earlier  experiences that you feel may  stuck in so that you can find a path forwards with your life.

My background has been in social work & later counselling for over 35 years and I  have extensive experience in working with  people trying their best to cope with different issues.  These may include  feeling anxious,  depressed,  perhaps experiencing family and/ or  relationship difficulties or  breakdown.  Bereavement  & loss , (recent or long ago), redundancy, domestic violence, abuse and bullying. Reaching out for help can be daunting but I offer a free 30  minute chat so that we can  meet  and talk over how how we would  work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Pet/Equine  Bereavement -  The loss of our beloved animal companions can cause a huge sense of loss and pain not always understood by those who do not experience that connection with other creatures.  I fully understand just how difficult these losses can be and can offer a compassionate place to share those feelings.

Workplace bullying -  This is far more common than most are led to believe. This can be  disturbing, debilitating and disempowering to experience and can lead to a loss of confidence, anxiety and depression .  Talking through and feeling supported can help to make decisions and explore options.

Currently studying Equine Therapy - I have a lifelong love of horses and ponies and the connection they can lead us to with the wild places outside and within.  The honest reflection from a place of heart from equus is powerful and can help to offer insights and possibilities.
