About me

Hi, my name is Steve and I am a fully qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with clients both face to face and online using Zoom and have experience of working with a wide range of issues.

I am an integrative counsellor which means that I draw from different therapeutic approaches in order to best meet the individual needs of each client, using different theories or techniques to help facilitate your journey towards clearer understanding, growth and change.

I offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space in which we can explore whatever challenges or difficulties you may be facing in your life right now. No matter what you choose to bring to your counselling sessions, I aim to provide an environment in which you feel safe, comfortable and heard.

I adhere to the BACP's Code of Ethics and receive regular supervision to ensure that my work remains of the high standard you should expect from a professional counsellor. All of my work is completely confidential and I am fully insured to practise.

What to expect

Each counselling session is 50 minutes long and most usually takes place at the same time on the same day each week. Your first session will include an assessment, which helps me to better understand you, your life, and how counselling might be able to help you. If you feel that you are happy for us to work together, I am able to offer short or long term therapy depending on your particular needs and wants. We will review our work together regularly to ensure that you are comfortable with how our work is progressing.

If you would like any more information or would like to know more about me and the work we might do together, please feel free to get in touch.

Children and Young People

Alongside my work with adults, I also work in education settings as a counsellor for children and young people. If a child or young person in your life is facing their own struggles and challenges at the moment, I have advanced training which allows me to work with this client group using creative approaches appropriate for their age and stage of development.

Please feel free to contact me for further details about working with a child or young person.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
