About me

Whether it’s painful emotions such as depression, constant worrying, or difficulty relaxing/getting a full night’s sleep, counselling is a brave first step to access the support you need. You may be finding that you’re repeating unhelpful behaviours, struggling with anger, or having difficulties in close relationships, there are studies demonstrating that counselling can help with a plethora of problems, you don’t need to tackle them alone.

I am a registered member of BACP and have experience in working with adults and adolescents presenting with a range of problems from depression and anxiety, to low self-esteem and family issues. I am primarily trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which helps to bring about change by exploring the relationships between your thoughts, behaviours and feelings. By addressing thoughts and behaviours, and by learning to sooth debilitating emotions, a new way of being can emerge, one with more resilience and tools to cope with whatever stressors life throws your way.

I have also undergone extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a form of therapy emphasising mindfulness, where the focus is on supporting you to create a more enriching and meaningful life. The way we will work together will depend on your needs and preferences. During the first couple of sessions of working with me, we will devise an individualised plan that will help to navigate our work together ensuring it is both effective and comfortable for you.

Therapy is most productive when there is a good relationship between the client and counsellor. Therefore, to ensure you feel comfortable with me and the therapy space, I offer a free 20 minute consultation in person or over the phone. I understand that for you to be seeking counselling, things may be feeling negative and perhaps even hopeless. Accessing support is the first step that may help to alleviate what you’re experiencing. I wish you the very best in finding the support that is right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
