About me

Welcome!

My name is Stella and I am an integrative counsellor psychotherapist working therapeutically with adults and children for more than ten years. I offer limited appointments in Basingstoke town centre but I also have experience working online via secure platforms.

How are you ?

What brings you here today?

You might have been thinking about accessing counselling for some time or you might have accessed support in the past.  You might wish to explore what is happening at the present for you. You might have difficulty with experiences rooted in the past.  The focus of the work is your choice and I am keen to explore with you what is troubling you at your own pace.

You might be running on a busy schedule or not wanting to leave the comfort of your home. Accessing therapy online could fit with your timetable.

A little bit about me

I was trained in the dialogue between the person-centred and the psychodynamic approach. In simple words, I believe in the person's innate ability to overcome life difficulties and achieve fulfilment. Sometimes though, it is not easy to cope on your own and that is when counselling can be of aid.

I also believe that the relationships formed in the early years of a person’s life can influence future relationships. Exploring these past experiences can help you develop healthier relationships in the present. However, I know from experience that one size does not fit all and as such, I will tailor my approach to fit your needs.

What happens next?

You can reach me either by email or telephone.  I will then contact you and arrange for a free initial telephone conversation during which you could find out more about how counselling can help and I can answer your questions prior to assessment.

The next step is to set up a face to face or online meeting for an ‘assessment’. During the assessment we will explore what has brought you to counselling and what your needs or goals are in order to clarify whether I am the best person to support you.   As a BACP registered and NCPS accredited counsellor, I am committed to working within my professional competence, so if I do not feel able to help you I could support you in finding appropriate help (if you would like me to).

I will also talk you through the process of counselling.  I have experience working both short term and long term with clients. Hence, we can set a number of sessions 6 or 12, or we can decide to work together for as long as required on an open-ended basis. Each session lasting 50 minutes at the same time each week.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
