About me

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, depressed or anxious? Maybe you can’t put your finger on it and can’t understand these feelings. I am passionate about working with you to explore and overcome these issues.

I’m a person-centred counsellor meaning that I put you at the centre of our work and go at your pace. I believe that by offering a non judgemental and empathic space that you will discover your own answers to what’s important to you.

I am experienced in working with clients who have suffered with grief and loss. I work with children, teenagers and adults. I have spent many years working in the Health and Social Care and Education environments. More recently working with offenders in prison. I’m passionate about supporting people to overcome their barriers. I am also a qualified Careers Adviser so can support you with difficult life transitions.

I am a trained Rewind therapist Rewind is a highly effective therapeutic intervention used to treat those with PSTD. Studies show that it’s more successful than trauma focussed CBT and EMDR. Another positive is that many clients only need 1-3 sessions.

Rewind is able to often after one short session stop involuntary recall of traumatic memory. These can present themselves as nightmares, flashbacks, hallucinations and rumination’s. It does this by processing the traumatic memory which is stuck in the receptive part of the brain. What makes this process so different is ‘closure without disclosure’ what this means is that the client doesn’t have to share any details of their trauma which can often be really distressing.

I am also an EFT practitioner. EFT also known as tapping is an incredible evidence based technique which can be used for multiple issues. From anxiety and depression to phobias, unhelpful habits,  limiting beliefs and chronic pain. it has also found to be as successful for treating PSTD as EMDR in fewer sessions.

I offer face to face, online and walk and talk sessions. I also offer a free 20 minute consultation. Please take a look at my website and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
