About me

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and an Advance Level ISST Certified  Schema therapist working in Petersfield Hampshire. I specialise in working with adults who present with long standing problems that stem from unmet needs in childhood such as complex trauma as well as a wide range of problems such as depression, anxiety, fears, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anger, and impulsive behaviours and apply interventions according to their needs. I also work with people who have personality disorders.

I have been trained in a number of different therapeutic models and consider myself to be an integrative therapist, in that I use the diversity of my training and experience to understand problems you are experiencing and use the most appropriate treatment model(s) accordingly. I work collaboratively with you every step of the way, pay attention to your goals and aspirations so that you can make the most beneficial outcomes.

The main therapeutic approaches that inform my treatment include Schema Therapy (ST), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I also draw skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I meet with you for the initial assessment session to discuss your problems, how problems developed over time, and specific symptoms you struggle with. The initial assessment session is an opportunity to assess your needs and formulate a framework for describing and understanding your situation and goals. I may select and utilize a range of assessment tools ranging from a clinical interview, behavioural observations, rating scales, self-report measures and formal psychological assessment depending on the purpose and complexity of the situation. After discussing goals for treatment, I discuss different approaches to therapy and the length of treatment required. The required therapy may range from short-term therapy, which may range from symptom reductions and developing coping skills to longer-term treatment where long-standing problems and issues could be addressed and self-understanding could be increased.

My Background:

I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Hawaii School of Professional Psychology in Honolulu, Hawaii.

My training included psychological testing such as cognitive (IQ) assessments, objective and projective personality assessment and multiple therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy for couples and systemic therapies. As part of my diagnostic training, I conducted psychological evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

As part of my intervention training, I provided culturally sensitive therapeutic services to clients referred from Hawaii’s First Circuit Court through Family Intervention and Training Services of Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii, where I delivered individual, couples and family therapy. Then I moved to New Jersey to complete the final year of my training at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where I served ethnically diverse clients in inpatient, partial/day hospital, and outpatient settings. I provided psychological testing including cognitive, personality, and neuropsychological assessments, crises stabilization and individual and group therapy.

As part of the Adult Outpatient rotation, I received a yearlong Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) training, supervision and participated in weekly consultation teams. To improve my DBT skills further, I received further training from Behavioural Tech in Princeton, NJ. In 2013 I moved to UK and since then took further training in Schema Therapy, DBT and Compassion Focused Therapy.
