About me

Hello, I’m Silvia and I am an integrative-relational psychotherapeutic counsellor - thank you for taking the time to read my profile. You can find more information on my website: www.silviacounselling.com

Life experiences, such as significant relationships, impact how we view ourselves and who we become.
My aim is to provide a space for you to safely express yourself, feel listened to and be seen. Whatever your story, it deserves to be spoken and heard. Speaking of our experiences can help to ease the weight of what we carry, welcome fresher perspectives and develop ways of managing difficulties.

There may be many different reasons that have led you here: you may not be living authentically and feel held back by feelings of unworthiness, confusion, guilt, self-doubt, distrust, insecurity. You may find yourself in unhelpful patterns of behaviour and relationships, perhaps you’d like something to shift, but you feel lost, muddled or unsure about how to navigate your circumstances.

In therapy you can find a space to:
⁃      Express yourself freely and safely about your emotions, thoughts, current and past experiences
⁃      Help you to manage the impact of current or past life events, as well as symptoms you may be experiencing such as low mood, anxiety, helplessness, irritability, lack of motivation, restlessness and low self-esteem…
⁃       Explore your relationship with yourself and others
⁃       Gain deeper understanding of who you are
⁃       Be supported in making desired changes and feel empowered in your choices

Reaching out for professional support can be a significant step, my hope is that through the therapeutic process we will, together, foster more self-understanding and self-compassion, to help you live a more fulfilling life true to yourself.

I believe insight and self-awareness are essential for change to happen: I will be an attentive, trustworthy and safe companion as we unfold your story, make meaning and begin writing new pages. I aim to make my approach affirming, warm and authentic and truly value the importance of creating a relationship of mutual trust.

This is your space.

What now?
Do reach out!
I offer a free 20min introductory call to get to know each other and ensure I am the right counsellor for your needs and current circumstances.
We will then have an initial consultation in which we will talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your history, your therapeutic goals and agree on next steps.

How therapy works:
Following the initial consultation session, we will have a weekly session which lasts 50 minutes, in-person, online or via telephone. We may agree to working together short-term (for example 8-12 sessions), long-term (6 months) or open-ended. We will regularly review how you feel things are going and make any helpful adjustments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
