About me

Hi, my name is Shams and well done on taking the first step towards getting the support and help you and we all need at some point in our lives.

I believe therapy can be a transformative experience, which does not mean eternal rainbows and endless spring days, but it just may lead you to better self-understanding, resilience and the resolution of long-held issues.

I offer a confidential and caring space where you can safely share and explore concerns and difficulties as well as celebrate successes and life changes.

My role is to listen, offering caring and compassionate support within a professional and ethical framework.

My practice is founded on the psychodynamic modality, meaning I believe many of our current patterns of thinking and living have been formed by earlier experiences which we may not be conscious of in our daily lives.  My strong belief is that being able to trace the source of these patterns can help us begin to recognise and change them for the improvement of our life.

I am a yoga teacher as well as a mindfulness coach, and this informs my therapy practice, mind, body and breath are connected and this connection is a powerful tool for our self-care.

We can schedule a free initial appointment to see if you and I are a good fit. I offer limited term and open ended therapy.

Currently sessions are in-person as well as online or by telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
