About me

Hi, I’m Sarah and welcome to my page.

Are you feeling anxious and overwhelmed with your emotions, maybe grieving and unsure how to explain / process how your feeling? If so, I offer a supportive space where you will be listened to, not judged, where we can talk about what is troubling you.

I am a dedicated, respectful and passionate counsellor and can work on a 1 to 1 basis or with couples.  As a trauma informed therapist, I will endeavour to achieve a therapeutic, confidential and positive relationship with you in order to explore any issues that may be confusing or troubling you.  I genuinely love what I do and I deeply believe in working with the 'whole' person, rather than a 'label', so through talking, we are able to discuss your emotions and feelings and what is going on in your life and whether there is anything that you would like to change or achieve.

To give you a bit of a background of Person-Centred Counselling, it means that you will be given my full, professional commitment, whilst we work at a pace that is suitable for you. This is to encourage / enable you to talk openly and freely about your emotions or whatever you feel is important in that moment, or what is causing an imbalance in your life. This may be things like anxiety, anger, a traumatic event in your life or it could be you would like to build on your confidence or low self-esteem.

People often say that by speaking to a counsellor, it is the first time that they have been able to express and talk about themselves and their thoughts, without being ridiculed or judged.

When working with either individuals or couples, the aim of a talking therapy is to enable people to experience communicating or interacting in possibly new ways, that in turn nurture and allow for a deeper, emotional closeness and intimacy. Through learning to communicate effectively and exploring and uncovering elements of a relationship, from your past or present, can have powerful and often positive effects.

Increasing an individual or a couple’s awareness and responsibility within a relationship, can help towards recognising possible defences that may have arisen or possibly any resistance to change that has been identified within a relationship.

Couples therapy can be viewed as enriching for people who may be going through a difficult time, whilst being keen to explore their relationship at a deeper level.

I will be supportive and understanding, in unravelling your experiences and feelings whilst working together.  We can discuss your goals and maybe expectations in the sessions, to ensure this time and space is used to meet your needs.  Likewise, when working with couples, having the safe space to unravel often deep-rooted emotions, can enable discussions to highlight strengths as well as weaknesses, thus enabling finding ways of maintaining and improving relationships, not simply saving them.

No personal judgement will be passed by myself and most importantly you will be actively listened to, for me to gain an understanding of your life from your perspective. This will help you to express your thoughts and feelings in our safe, confidential environment, whilst empowering you to implement positive changes in your life that you are comfortable with.

I have been privileged to be able to support many people through their difficult times and from these experiences I have learnt that YOU are the expert in your life, and the one who holds the answers from within. It’s for us, by working therapeutically together, to be able to untangle your feelings, further understand your lived experiences and for you to regain clarity and work towards the goals you may be looking to achieve.

General information

I provide both long and short-term therapy sessions to over 18's. We can discuss your needs and progress at regular intervals and you can choose how often or little we work together.

I am a registered member of the BACP and have achieved their Certificate of Proficiency, whilst being a fully insured and qualified counsellor who receives regular clinical supervision. I have experience in working with charitable organisations, covering for example, domestic violence, relationship problems, alcohol abuse, family issues, low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.  As a counsellor, I regularly undertake continuous professional development in order to expand on my skills and current knowledge.

I hope the above information has given you an understanding of myself and how we could work together. I realise and recognise choosing a counsellor can be challenging and somewhat confusing on times, therefore, if you would like to contact me to discuss any questions you may have, then please contact me either on mobile number 07944 604683 or if you prefer, you can email me.  I also have a website - www.sarahwebbcounselling.co.uk, which has a Q&A section, which has helpful information if you require it.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
