About me

I am an experienced and qualified Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Couples Counsellor. I maintain a full private practice supporting individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of issues. My specialities include working with relationship issues, relational trauma, grief counselling, identity issues, and life transitions. I am particularly interested in working with non-native people (immigrants/expats/international students).

The people I have worked with have described me as warm, compassionate, safe, challenging, and nurturing. I offer the people I work with a space where they can be themselves fully, supporting them to deepen their understanding of who they are, make meaning around what they've experienced in their life, and pattern healthier ways of being in relationship with themselves and others.

My approach to therapy is 'pluralistic', meaning that I combine methods from different approaches to tailor the therapy to your specific needs. I also work collaboratively, incorporating your ideas and self-knowledge into working together. In this way, we co-create how the therapy looks.

Considering many different angles (mental, physical, emotional, relational, and cultural aspects), you can develop an understanding of what's going on now and get to the root of the problem. I will support you from where you're at and guide you to where you wish to get to. At all times, I will listen to you with care and respect.

If this might be what you're looking for, please get in touch, and if our availability matches, we can arrange a complimentary 30-minute video consultation so you can see what it's like to meet with me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have nearly a decade of therapy practice experience. I've worked as a general counsellor, trauma specialist, senior substance use counsellor, play and art therapist for children and young people, couples and relationship therapist, and recovery group co-facilitator. I have several years of experience as a receptionist and administrator in several counselling agencies, giving me helpful skills around how to support you from first contact to the end of our work together.

I regularly attend continued professional development (CPD) conferences, seminars, and workshops as an up-to-date and lifelong learner in my profession. I offer my clients sessions infused with the latest research on effective therapy approaches.

I am registered with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), meaning that I have been approved for gaining appropriate training and experience. My work is deeply grounded in the ethics of care, respect, safety, and confidentiality, which is embedded within the code of ethics and conduct of the BACP. My practice is also insured and regularly supervised per the BACP requirements, so you can be confident about the help I provide.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
