About me

Hello, my name is Sarah and thank you for looking at my profile. I understand how challenging relationships can bring us anxiety and depression, making our lives unbearable. I specialise in helping people to overcome the debilitating trauma that can result from difficult relationships, breakups, narcissistic abuse, borderline personality disorder, bullying and codependency.

I understand the importance of a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you will feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels right for you – allowing you to relax and begin to let go of fear and deeply held trauma. You can then begin to feel calmer, happier and more empowered in your life outside of the therapy room.

Having an understanding, experienced counsellor can help you to reclaim your power and live a life that you deserve. Therapy can not only allow you to recover from distress and upset that you may have experienced, but you can also learn to thrive, living a life that is deeply fulfilling and no longer living in the shadow of your past.

Training, qualifications & experience

My experience:

I have worked with people from a variety of backgrounds looking to achieve manageability in their lives and increased wellbeing in themselves following emotional trauma. For nearly a decade, I have worked in the voluntary sector, helping vulnerable survivors of childhood abuse and domestic violence who struggle to manage with daily life. For 7 years, I have coached individuals seeking recovery from codependency and dysfunctional relationships.

My professional qualifications:

  • BSc (Hons) Health Sciences (Psychology & Mental Health)
  • Diploma - Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 3 Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate - Telephone & Online Counselling
  • Certificate - Understanding Mental Incapacity
  • Certificate - Exploring Suicidal Risk Certificate in Working with Ambiguous Loss
  • Masters - Integrative Counselling (in process)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I know how difficult and challenging relationships can be and the impact they have on our lives – even if they occurred many years ago - so I know how important it is to offer a safe space where you can relax and open up at your own pace. I offer warmth, acceptance and empathy so that you feel free to be yourself, without judgement.

Therapy sessions with me may help you to:

  • Alleviate feelings of stress, anxiety and depression.
  • Increase your self-esteem and self-worth
  • Feel more empowered in challenging situations
  • Gain confidence in your life
  • Achieve goals and ambitions
  • Build stronger and more intimate relationships
  • Come to term with difficulties and loss

You can choose how you receive counselling – or if you are not sure what is best for you, we can discuss this in your initial consultation to decide what fits your needs. All sessions are secure and confidential. Sessions are available online either by video call, text chat or email if you prefer.

I offer reduced prices for student counsellors and those on benefits, and for block bookings.
