About me

I offer a free initial 20 minute phone consultation - You can call or text me on 07827 860765 or email me and I will get back to you asap.

How counselling with me can help you

I can help you if you're feeling sad, lost or lonely, or if you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, angry and stressed out. Perhaps you're not sure what you are feeling, but know that something just doesn't feel right?  You are not alone, I'm here for you. My name is Sarah and I am a person centred counsellor who is warm, kind and welcoming. My aim is to help you deal with and overcome the concerns that are causing you emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable, by helping you to find your own insights and understanding of them. I will offer you a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore these difficult emotions, experiences and worries, and by working together we can find ways of challenging these to help you to resolve them; or we can work towards you accepting them. You will lead, and I will work at your pace ensuring that all the while you feel heard, valued and accepted.

I have experience of working with clients who are struggling with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, low self - esteem, stress, bereavement, trauma, self harm and suicide ideation.

I am registered member of the British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework which ensures that I work to the highest standards.

Services:

I offer face to face counselling as well as online video counselling and telephone counselling.

It is important that you find the right counsellor for you so I offer a free 20 minute consultation phone call to see how we will work together. This gives you the chance to talk to me about what you hope to gain from counselling and I can talk you through how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

Here are some of the qualifications that I hold:

  • Masters Degree (MA) in  Clinical Counselling (with Distinction) *BACP accredited course - University of Chester
  • Level 3 Counselling Studies Certificate - Making Changes, Ellesmere Port
  • Level 2 Counselling Skills Certificate - Making Changes, Ellesmere Port.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Health Education and Promotion - Leeds Metropolitan University
  • BSc (Hons) Podiatry - University of Salford

Work Experience:

I have experience of working  in a charity that provides counselling for older people as well as experience of counselling clients within a charity that supports full time carers.  I have also worked for a charity that supports people at risk of becoming homeless; which included counselling clients in the wider community struggling with a range of mental health concerns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
