About me

Hi, my name is Sarah and I understand that when it comes to therapy, there is no ‘one size fits all’ and so I have many support options available to suit your individual needs.

I work in a trauma-informed way and am qualified in Person-Centred counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, REWIND, Single Session Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy.

Person-Centred counselling is non-directive; which means that the sessions will be led by you.  The belief being that you are the expert of your own experiences.

CBT involves working in collaboration with structured sessions.  The sessions are solution focused and the aim is to change negative thought processes and behaviours.  The aim of this approach is that you will become your own therapist.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is similar to CBT, in terms of changing negative thought processes and behaviours but it is via positive suggestions that will be given to you whilst you are in a state of deep relaxation.

REWIND can help with flashbacks and enables you to detach from the trauma in order to reduce impact.

SST is for people who believe they can resolve their issue within 1 x session and can involve a range of techniques depending on the issue.

EMDR is a very successful treatment for trauma, among other issues and enables you to reframe beliefs held about situations, events, phobias, etc and reduce the level of disturbance.

I have been working with trauma for the past 16yrs, in particular with those who have been impacted by sexual violence.

If you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I am ready to support you on your journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
