About me

Welcome to my profile.

Below are just a few of the reasons people come to therapy:

  • They are feeling: Stressed, Anxious, Depressed, Sad.
  • They are struggling with: Low self-esteem, Grief, Loss, Family Issues, Work Issues.
  • They have experienced: Bereavement, Abuse, Trauma.

Whatever your reason, finding a therapist that is the right fit for you is key.  Research has shown that a good relationship between therapist and client is the basis of successful therapy. As a Relational Integrative Therapist, I will take time to get to know you, what is important to you and what you want to get out of therapy; creating a confidential and safe space where you can share openly what is troubling you.

My Approach

I take a holistic approach to therapy.  Our behaviours, our thoughts, our emotions and our physical bodies are all connected. We can take time in the therapy room to explore those connections and help you to understand yourself better. We can also integrate into these explorations any aspects of spirituality or faith that are important to you.

Coming to an understanding of why you behave, think, and feel the way you do, can help you to bring about the changes you desire in your life; as well as enabling you to acknowledge, express and process the pain and trauma that you have experienced.

Therapy can be viewed as a journey that you take.  The journey is not always a straight path and can have twists and turns along the way. I see it as a joint endeavour, where you and I journey together. I will be accompanying you, until you feel ready to continue the journey on your own.

Training, qualifications & experience

University of Northampton - Postgraduate Diploma (Level 7)  Integrative Counselling

I am a Relational Integrative Therapist.

My Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling was based on relational models of integration.  Integration in counselling is when a therapist weaves together various counselling modalities, theories and ways of working with clients into a coherent model, to work with clients in the way best suited to them. It is relational because the overall integrative model is based firmly on the relationship build between client and therapist.

Post qualification, I am studying in further depth many aspects of therapy, including: attachment theory, trauma recovery, mind-body-emotion connection and inner child and parts work.

My private practice is based in Bedford town centre and serves clients in Bedford and the surrounding areas of Milton Keynes and Northampton for in person therapy and provides remote therapy, via zoom, throughout the UK.

I have a personal interest in bereavement work and am involved with two bereavement charities and have completed Bereavement Specific Training with Cruse - Awareness in Bereavement Care Course.

I am a BACP Registered Member, having passed their Certificate of Proficiency and I am committed to working within their Ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
