About me

Hi there, welcome to my profile. My main approach is person centred and I run my practice from a local doctor’s surgery whether it be face to face, online or telephone. Covering all common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideations. I work part time for the NHS with the AT Risk Mental State team supporting individuals that are experiencing early-stage psychosis.

Although qualified I feel my lived experience of life’s events allows me to empathise and really understand feelings of emotional distress. Together we can explore coping skills and techniques that are meaningful and beneficial to your needs.

My goal would be for you to gain control of your life in an appropriate way, focusing on positive mental health and well-being for you to go through life feeling lighter and happier.

Although I work in a person-centred way I am able to adapt my approach to suit the needs of others, understanding that as individuals we all learn and work in different ways. Being a visual learner myself I find having psychoeducation as an offering could be beneficial.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Advanced Diploma in integrative counselling level 4
  • Understanding Domestic Abuse level 2
  • MHFA trained (mental health first aid)
  • Self Harm awareness certification
  • Suicide awareness certification
  • Certificate of recognition for outstanding contributions and support to 'The Listening Post' and receiving the Queen's award for voluntary service.

I have volunteered for many local organisations over the last five years. I feel it's the best way to develop skills and gain experience when working alongside individuals that were experiencing poor mental health.

Working for the NHS allows me to keep up to date with knowledge and information with ongoing training events around common mental health issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
