About us

Here for You is a FREE, Online Counselling Service for young people resident in Ceredigion aged 16 – 30 and for young people aged 13 - 18 in South Pembrokeshire.  We have a team of both male and female counsellors who can offer a bilingual service.

The Here for You service is available through various digital methods, such as email, text and video chat software. The service is user focused and the counsellor will discuss your preferred method of contact at the beginning of any counselling relationship.

Many young people avoid or find it difficult to access existing support services for a range of reasons including: work commitments, caring responsibilities, transport issues, lack of privacy when physically accessing services, low confidence, peer pressure, disabilities, hearing impairment and many other reasons.

Area 43’s Here for You counsellors will deliver appropriate responses to personal crises and offer strategies and coping skills.  The service will provide young people with access to counsellors at times that suit their needs, through media that they are comfortable using.

Counselling is a skilled way of helping people with personal, family, emotional and other mental health issues.  Here for You provides a safe and confidential environment which gives individuals an opportunity to explore, discover and clarify difficulties.  It offers the opportunity to increase self-awareness, develop personal resources and understanding of problems as well as developing strategies to cope with change.

Our counsellors will treat you with respect and not judge you. Most young people who have tried counselling have found it to be useful in helping them to make changes for the better.

This service is confidential, which means that counsellors do not tell anyone what is talked about. However, in exceptional circumstances, where it is deemed that you or others are being harmed or at risk of being harmed, information may be shared. You will usually be informed if information must be shared with a third party.

Area 43’s Here for You online counselling is a free service delivering support made possible by Ceredigion Families First, Hywel dda University Health Board and the National Lottery Charities Board.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
