About me

Hi my name is Rosa Stevens. I have worked as a Counsellor for a local Counselling Organisation for several years, providing secondary care and a vitally needed counselling service for adults and youth who might otherwise be excluded because of finance or shortfall in service provision. To date, I have played a crucial role in improving the health and wellbeing of several clients between the age of 14 to 83 years. I believe my speciality is working with anxiety, depression, past and current trauma, bereavement, anger management and low self-esteem.

My Approach

I believe I practice a holistic approach this means; “I take into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms”— I don't merely attempt to alleviate the fatigue, anger and anxiety that often come along with mental and emotional struggles however, I like to address the roots of the cause. This intervention involves treating the client as a whole person considering their individual ecosystem. This includes looking at everything that surrounds my clients, this allows me to create an effective, individualised treatment plan.

My holistic approach focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of a person can lead to concerns in other areas. Pursuing this approach enables my clients to become better attuned to their awareness and promotes a greater acceptance of self.

The ideas behind the holistic approach is to prevent symptoms affecting other parts of the self i.e: If my unhelpful thinking is triggering anxiety, my body is also experiencing the effects therefore, if left untreated this may cause other physical conditions.  I believe that being a wellness-focused therapist allows me to get my clients to strike a balance in taking care of themselves by taking care of their mind, body, and spirit. This often encourages clients to explore other areas of their life that can be improved, aimed at relapse preventions.  Often my clients explore new physical activities, nutritions, new mindfulness techniques and re-connect with what is important to them.

My approach attempts to reduce the amount of sessions needed for my clients and to achieve an overall improved sense of wellbeing.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
