Rhiannon Rees - Loss & Bereavement Counsellor
I am a Relational Counsellor working in Leeds and I help individuals to understand their loss and bereavement. Together, we will go through a process of exploration of your emotions and experiences enabling you to gain insight into your difficulties and come to terms with your loss.
I do this by really connecting with you so that you feel heard, held and accepted. Through warmth, compassion and non-judgemental acceptance, I can support you toward feeling able to cope with the small and the big things in life, empowered to move forward, feeling lighter, more resilient and able to make the changes you may wish to see in your life.
I work collaboratively with you, going at your pace, working toward your individual goals.
Bereavement after loss can arise from changes and life transitions such as:
- Breakdown of a relationship; divorce, break-up, separation, betrayal
- Death of a loved one
- Loss of your health
- Retirement and loss of your career
- Loss of trust, approval, safety
- Loss of a role
- Loss of a past of future you thought you’d have
- Abandonment both past and current
- Loss of confidence
I can help you to engage with your emotions as they are right now, and gain a deeper understanding of them, yourself and your experiences of loss, grief and bereavement. It may be useful to explore past events as a way of understanding where you’re at now.
What happens next?
I understand that committing to therapy can take real courage. To support you in this process I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. During this time, I can tell you more about how I work, hear briefly about your difficulties and answer any questions you may have.
So don’t struggle on alone, call or text me on 07308 121 754 or click here to send me an email today and find out how counselling can help you.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
Changes and transitions in life can leave you feeling empty and without hope. In this dark place, the heavyweight of the sadness or possible confusion and bewilderment may at times, feel like too much to bear alone. It can feel like no one understands.
Maybe you feel unable to turn to your loved ones for support, leaving you isolated and alone. Loss and bereavement can make living your normal day and doing ordinary tasks feel overwhelming. As you struggle to come to terms with this new ‘normal’ your emotions may feel out of control, alien and confusing.
Perhaps your loss has left you with a sense of relief, guilt or anger. Maybe you feel numb and hollow. Grief can be triggered by many stressful life events, not just death. Separation, betrayal, loss of a past or future you thought you’d have, personal injury or ill health or loss of a role can leave you in a dark and lonely place. Allow me to step into this darkness with you and support you as you move toward a place of lightness and hope.
