About me

Hello and welcome. My name is Rebecca and I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor based in Farnham in Surrey. I work in private practice and as a counsellor for The Brain Tumour Charity. I offer both short and long term individual counselling to adults and young people over 16, and also work with couples for bereavement counselling. I am based in a private and comfortable therapy room, located in a lovely barn on the edge of Farnham town. I regularly work with clients who come to see me about depression, anxiety, relational issues and self-esteem difficulties. I also often support clients struggling with loss and grief, including bereavement by suicide, perinatal loss and anticipatory loss.

I have a particular interest in developing my work with bereaved couples who would like support together, rather than individually.

I offer daytime and early evening in-person appointments and I also see clients on a Saturday morning. Secure online sessions and telephone counselling are also available if you prefer. If you would like to know more, I would be pleased to hear from you.

How can counselling help?

There are times when life feels challenging and it is difficult to cope alone. Talking to a counsellor is a space to think about what is going on for you, but taking the first steps can often feel scary or daunting, as can finding the right counsellor to talk to. As a practitioner I offer a warm, collaborative and relational approach to support whatever you are struggling with. We we might look at something you have been holding onto for a long time, or explore new emotions and feelings you are experiencing.

My personal approach

I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor, trained integratively to draw on several different theories and approaches to best support you. My style of working is humanistic, relational and client-led; aiming to create a space where we can build a collaborative, connected therapeutic relationship that feels safe and supportive. I find it can often be helpful to explore your experience of relationships both past and present, to better understand thoughts and feelings in the here and now, and to think about coping behaviours that can help with day to day living.

My role is to support you to find greater clarity and understanding through increased self-awareness and personal growth.  I believe we all have the capacity to grow and whilst it may not be easy or a quick fix, counselling can be a very restorative experience.

Some client feedback

"You have been such a massive help to me and I am very grateful for that"

"Thank you so much for your help, kindness and empathy - it has been invaluable"

"Thank you for guiding me to a healthy place I didn't think was attainable 3 months ago"

"You helped me understand that how I was feeling was OK and that there was no shame in it"

If you are unsure whether therapy might be useful for you, or have any questions about working with me, please do get in touch and we can talk about what you are experiencing and how I could help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
