About me
People seek counselling and psychotherapy for various reasons. Not everyone knows what is bothering them. Often it is the difficulties and challenges of daily life that become overwhelming and unmanageable, impacting relationships, work and decision making. It is sometimes beyond the control of the individual to address those issues without professional help.
My name is Pippa, and I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist in Birmingham, with therapy rooms in Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment where together we can work towards resolving issues and enabling life enhancement.
Training, qualifications & experience
BSc (Hons) Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (First Class) - The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, (SPTI) Nottingham. The course consisted of rigorous academic and experiential training, weekly personal therapy (160 hrs+) and 200+ client hours/ clinical experience with a Counselling charity in Birmingham.
I am committed to regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development), weekly personal therapy and fortnightly supervision.
I am an active participant in an ongoing, monthly, personal development process group, and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I have a professional interest working to resolve early relational childhood trauma and working with long-standing issues. Particularly, in attachment and the reparative capacity of the therapeutic relationship with individuals who have experienced poor infant attachment.

A cancellation fee of the full session price applies if a booked session is missed or cancelled without a minimum 24-hour notice period. 24 hours’ notice enables us to try to re-schedule your appointment at another mutually convenient time.
