About me

I have a warm sensitive approach, supporting people as they identify and work through the challenges they face. I work together with clients to understand their experiences and draw on their own resources and find their own solutions. Whether you are dealing with specific feelings of anxiety or depression, a life changing event or maybe feeling overwhelmed and are struggling to cope; I can help you reconnect with what you need and find a way forward.

How can I help?
Sometimes we don’t know why we feel the way we do or know what it is we need until we say it out loud and feel seen by another without expectation or judgement. I work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.  Often people do not know why they are struggling but know they need help . My approach puts you at the centre building a strong relationship and a non-judgmental safe space, to explore your emotions, thoughts and relationships from both the present and the past.  This helps identify and express your emotions and also offer understanding about how the past manifests in current relationships, creates patterns of coping and how you can break these cycles and make lasting change. I have a particular interest in supporting men with their mental health and also members of the LGBTQ+ community. I have knowledge and lived experience in these areas and the issues and challenges they face.

Taking therapy outside....
I also offer walk and talk therapy in the countryside surrounding my practice. Sitting face to face can be uncomfortable and feel alien for those who have never experienced it before. Walking side by side can be less stressful and offers all the benefits of moving the body and getting out into the outdoors.

My Background: Before training as a therapist I was as a drummer and educator for 20 years. I believe that human creativity can be a powerful tool for self-expression, exploration, accessing unconscious feelings and connecting with the present. Because of this I like to offer clients a variety of creative ways to explore their process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
