About me

You may be feeling life is just too much to manage, or perhaps something from your past may be impacting on how you are feeling today.

Taking the first step in acknowledging you might benefit from obtaining support from someone outside your family or friends, takes courage.  Counselling can be challenging, but rewarding, as we explore together how you are feeling right now and how you would like to feel in the future.

My aim is to create a safe environment where you can come and talk confidentially, without judgement, about whatever is troubling you or causing you distress.

I offer a warm, open and supportive relationship.  My belief is that the therapeutic relationship that is created between us will allow you to gain more insight, self-awareness and self-understanding, enabling you to make the changes that you might want to make, to live a more fulfilling and contented life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully trained and qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling from Middlesex University and have a Certificate in Relationship Therapy (COSRT accredited) for working with couples.

I also offer online and telephone counselling and am ACTO approved.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and undertake continuous professional development.  I am also BACP-accredited, meeting the BACP's higher standard for competent, ethical and independent practitioners and my work is supervised by a senior practitioner.

In addition to my private practice, I have several years' experience of working in an NHS GP practice and workplace counselling service offering psychotherapy support to a wide range of adults and older adults.

I am an approved provider of therapeutic services for the following Private Medical Insurers:  Aviva, AXA Health, Cigna Healthcare, Vitality Health Care Insurance and Aetna International.  I am also able to provide psychotherapeutic/counselling services to Healix members.

Prior to my counselling career, I worked for a number of large FTSE 100 companies within the health and care sector and have a Business Management degree, so am well able to understand workplace issues.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
