About me
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
Everyone has times in life when their mental health is particularly challenging and they may be facing emotional or psychological distress. I am a professional, approachable UKCP registered psychotherapist working in private practice in Malvern. I support adults by holding a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space so you can become more aware of the impact of past life experiences, how those events still influence how you are in the world today and explore your thoughts and feelings around options for making changes in the future.
I come originally from a technical background, first working in IT in financial services and central government and later moving into business analysis, project management and consultancy. Throughout, I received feedback that colleagues found me comfortable to talk to about work or personal issues. Hence I decided to pursue further training – firstly as a coach and later, seeking greater relational depth to support clients with longer established, deeper issues, as a psychotherapist.
I offer a free initial 30 minute session for you to briefly explain what has brought you to therapy and your hopes for it and for me to explain how therapy works. This gives both the opportunity to find out a bit more about each other and decide if we feel we could work together.
Therapy can be either short-term or long-term (with regular reviews) and either in person or on-line. If meeting in person we can use one of two comfortable, confidential rooms in the gardens of my house. A cloakroom is available. As I live on the outskirts of Malvern, meeting outside in nature is also possible. If meeting on-line we can use either Zoom or MS-Teams. Whether meeting in person or on-line, normally we would meet at the same time each week, although this can be varied if necessary. There is free parking on-site and Malvern Link train station 1.2 miles away.
Please visit my website for further details and do get in touch by email or phone if you feel I might be the person best placed to help you.
Training, qualifications & experience
In terms of formal training, I have the following qualifications:
- Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy - (SCPTI, Scarborough)
- Diploma in Life and Business Coaching; NLP Practitioner - (UKCPD, Swindon)
- Masters in Business Administration (MBA) - (Open University Business School)
- BA (Mathematics) - (Oxford University)
In terms of general life experience, I can call on a variety of experiences including being a husband, father of three adult children (one adopted internationally), school governor, charity volunteering and church involvement.
Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
