About us

Parenting 2000's Therapeutic Services deliver counselling to children, young people and adults using a team of well qualified and experienced counsellors who are all BACP members.

Our team currently consists of 8 therapists, some of whom work with both children and adults whilst others only with adults.  Those who work with children and young people have extra qualifications and are recruited due to their knowledge and experience in the field.  Within our team we have specialists in bereavement, neuro-divergence (ASD &ADHD), anxiety and behavioural difficulties.

We like to match our clients to a therapist that will work well for them and as we are a team we can offer real flexibility; a brief phone call can be offered free of charge to explore the needs of the client before we match to the right therapist.

Training, qualifications & experience

All of our team are fully qualified therapists and many have had previous roles in such things as teaching and social care.  Our recruitment processes are vigorous (DBS, insurance, professional body membership, qualification checks, references)- this should really help with feeling secure when embarking on a therapeutic relationship with us.

At Parenting 2000 we have gained much experience as providers of therapy and are partnered with the NHS IAPT service along with CAMHS.  We are a trusted organisation with strong links to the local CCG receiving many referrals from GPs as well as from schools, social care and family centres.

Within our team we are lucky to have specialists in trauma focussed therapy as well as play therapy, CBT, Compassion Focussed and therapy using art.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
