About me
I am currently offering face to face or remote counselling and I am now trained as a Breathwork Facilitater.
Life can be hellish and painful at times for us humans. I have found during my 34 year career as a counsellor that talking about distress cannot always sooth our agitation/ADHD, nightmare brain, lift our low self worth, sooth the physical triggers, that continue to haunt, deplete, depress and confuse us.
This is why I decided to train as a breathwork facilitater alongside my counselling. Breathwork has many benefits: it regulates the nervous system, gently unwinds and releases stress, trauma, difficult emotions and memories. It increases physical health by retraining you to breathe better, it helps you to relax so you can sleep better, feel calmer and more at peace. providing you with a tool to navigate challenging times giving you clarity, self-acceptance and space to be.
I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with a wealth of over 34 years’ experience, 17 working in NHS Primary Care. I offer warmth, acceptance and understanding, supported by my psychodynamic training, CBT and mindfulness tools. I am compassionate and will understand and support you however challenging and troubling your difficulties are. I will provide a safe and confidential space where you will be empowered to explore and express any distressing mixed up and confused feelings.
Through engaging in this process, you will have the opportunity to feel listened to understood and not so alone with your problems. A lot of my work is around helping people to become more compassionate and forgiving towards themselves This kind of support and acceptance can provide the means for you to develop a richness and freedom in your relationship with yourself and others, and a resulting increased and positive depth of meaning in your life.
It is hard to be human sometimes and it was coming to a crisis and then recovery from my own mental and emotional struggles that drew me to train as a counsellor. I believe much of this suffering arises from unhelpful coping mechanisms, such as over analysing, people pleasing, negative thinking, which are learned in childhood.
By exploring these patterns of behaviour, you will gain a new understanding of yourself and the confidence in your ability to make changes. You will then develop more powerful and positive coping strategies which will be lifelong. I recent client talked of her counselling with me turning her “brain around and being “transformative”.
I offer an initial assessment appointment during which we can discuss issues that are troubling and concerning to you and how counselling might help. We could explore short term focused sessions, as well as open ended therapy. I have professional experience working with a wide range of issues and I am flexible in my approach, so that I can best suit your needs.
I can help you deal with: -
- Relationship difficulties.
- Addiction, OCD, obsessional and negative thinking.
- Angry feelings and behaviours and their impact.
- Issues in the past, childhood abuse, neglect and trauma
- Depression, anxiety,
- Grief and loss
- Low self-worth
- Mid-life and older age issues.
- Confusion, lostness and ‘messed up’ feelings.
If any of this resonates with you, just send me an email or leave me an answer phone message, whatever you prefer. I will contact you within 24 hours to arrange an initial meeting. I am happy to call for a brief chat on the phone first, if that feels comfortable.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
