About me

Hi, I'm Nicola and I’d love to help you.

The fact you've landed here on this page means you're likely struggling with something and are looking for some help. That's where I come in. I offer a safe confidential space, free from judgement and prejudice, to talk through whatever challenge you may be facing. I work in a collaborative manner with my clients to help navigate issues and work on processing emotions and building resilience.

I know it can be daunting to reach out for help in the first place, but I assure you it will be worthwhile. Even just talking things through with someone who's completely removed from the situation can be incredibly helpful, and then we can look to work on techniques to help you move forward.

It is really important that you click with your counsellor which is why I offer a free initial phone consultation, so we can chat about what you are looking for help with ,and make sure we are a good fit for each other.

As a qualified, registered counsellor I focus my practice on the person centred approach. I will also draw on my knowledge of humanistic modalities, which enables me to work with a wide range of issues and experiences.

I work from The Grove Therapy Rooms in Ilkley, which is a short walk from the train station or main car park.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.
  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

I am currently studying CPCAB Level 6 in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision.

I attend monthly clinical supervision to ensure I continue to practice safely, within ethical guidelines.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work towards their ethical framework.

Along with my private work, I am also the Lead Counsellor for an NHS GP Practice, managing counselling placements. Within this role I also facilitate a Well Being Hub, providing a safe, confidential space for the community to come together to support one another in times of stress.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
