About me

If you’re struggling and unsure where to turn, then I might be able to help you. It can be daunting to find a therapist so let me tell you a bit more about who I am and what I can offer you.

A bit about me

Hello, I’m Neil. I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I offer a safe, comfortable, and confidential space in the heart of Leicester City. The space will be yours to share what’s going on for you and be heard.  I'm a member of BACP and UKCP.

I also have over 25 years of experience working in children and family social care. From this, I have gained significant insight into childhood and teenage trauma and its impact later on in life on how we see ourselves, how we see the world and how we behave in relationships with others.

What I can offer you

I am trained in an approach called Psychosynthesis. This unique approach uses a variety of techniques to help you overcome personal challenges, achieve a greater sense of self-awareness, and support real personal growth.  As well as offering talking therapy, I use other effective tools including meditation, mindfulness, body/feelings work and creative art materials, if and when it feels right for you.

My practice is just above a coffee shop in Leicester where you can buy yourself a coffee if you so want, before coming up to see me.

If you feel I might be a good fit for you, please do get in touch. I’m ready to listen.

Training, qualifications & experience

Institute of Psychosynthesis: MA Psychosynthesis Psychology

Institute of Psychosynthesis: Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling

Institute of Psychosynthesis: Diploma in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapeutic Counselling

I have gained extensive experience with trauma and attachment disruption through my career in Social Care spanning 25 years in children and family services. I currently manage a therapeutic team within this sector.

I am currently a Therapeutic practitioner with Rutland House Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre in Leicester City.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
