About me

Life can feel like a challenge. Do you need some support to work through issues or changes in your life?

Maybe you are feeling anxious, experiencing low self-confidence/ self esteem, or difficulties in relationships? Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by recent events, a bereavement or life as a whole? Or maybe you just need some space to talk things through, to seek a different perspective. I will work with you to explore your thoughts and feelings, assisting you to develop new understanding, acceptance or change.

Counselling experience

My counselling experience is varied, having supported adults, children and young people in a variety of settings. I have worked regularly with clients experiencing (amongst other things)

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • bereavement, grief & loss, abandonment issues
  • self esteem, self confidence and identity issues
  • family/relationship difficulties
  • domestic abuse

I have volunteered with Cruse Bereavement services and have also supported young people in primary and secondary school, as well as FE college as a school/ college based counsellor. I am an approved therapist with Anxiety UK. I also have experience working alongside the military and can offer support in this context.

How do I work?

I offer short term or long term therapy, depending on your needs. My aim is always to provide you with a calm, non-judgemental and safe space to share your thoughts and experiences, enabling the insight that you need to make any changes that will make a difference in your life.

As an integrative counsellor, I will be led by your needs and the topics you wish to work through. This may involve use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy or other humanistic and psychodynamic approaches.  We may also use more creative methods to explore your thought processes when it feels appropriate.

I currently offer in-person appointments on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoon/evening, with virtual and telephone options available on Thursday evenings.

Next Steps

Deciding to seek a counsellor or start therapy can feel daunting. If you are feeling unsure or have questions about working together, please book a no-obligation introductory call or email me to arrange a convenient time to chat things through.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
