About me

Welcome!

I offer online, phone, and in person sessions in Glasgow city centre. I work with individuals with a broad range of challenges including low mood/depression, anxiety disorders, stress, bereavement and loss, life's transitions and addiction/compulsive behaviours.

Perhaps you feel  stuck in repeating patterns of behaviour or thinking that leaves you feeling in conflict with how you wish to be with yourself, and/or in your relationships. Perhaps life events have become overwhelming and difficult to move through. This can lead to a sense of isolation, leaving us alone with our thoughts and feelings and disconnected from others and our environment. I work with clients authentically and with gentle curiosity. I include my own rich journey with learning, self-acceptance and the belief that we all have the capacity to heal and change.

My approach is person centred with elements of mindfulness, often focusing on emotions in the present moment and on how we relate to these often difficult feelings.

I offer space to connect with all the parts of you, particularly the parts that feel shameful, wrong or inadequate. Through this compassionate and collaborative exploration, and by learning to creatively respond rather than react, we build resilience and bring greater awareness of when these parts are triggered, and of how we can connect and hold space for them in the moment. I've found this process to be particularly helpful with stress, depression and anxiety.

I try to demystify some of the counselling process, by being down to earth, transparent and empathetic, emphasising that ultimately you are the expert on yourself, and my role is to walk alongside you with your difficulties and struggles.

On reading this, you've taken the brave steps to reach out and acknowledge that there is the need to change and grow. Please do get in touch for a 15 minute consultation to discuss how we could potentially work together, and answer any questions you may have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
