The social aim of MTCIC is to provide a low cost counselling service for clients - Acorn Counselling Service. We offer short or long term therapy from trained counsellors who are on placement with us to accrue hours towards their accreditation. This service is available in Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury and Ipswich.
MTCIC is made up of a team of highly skilled people in the field of mental health who offer Mental Health Consultancy, Psychological Therapies such as Counselling for individuals, couples or young people, either short or long term, Computerised CBT, Group work covering issues surrounding Anxiety and Anger Management and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing). EMDR helps to relieve distress arising from disturbing and unresolved life experiences. It is used in the treatment of trauma after accidents or disturbing events and phobias.
We also offer stand-alone lecture demonstrations that are suitable for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and for general public interest. Many of these lectures are followed up with further training opportunities. Current and future events can be found on our website, www.mtcic.org.uk
Training, qualifications & experience
Sue Jay MBE is the founder and Managing Director of MTCIC. She has worked in mental health services within the voluntary sector for 16 years. She is a trained Psychodynamic Person Centred Counsellor and has a wealth of experience in service delivery and a proven track record which was recognised with the award of an MBE in 2010 for services to Mental Health Care in West Suffolk.
Jane Walden is HR Director and has over 16 years experience of working in the administration of services in mental health.
Victoria Plampin is the team administrator and joined MTCIC in 2012.

Yvonne Green MBACP (Accred). Yvonne finds working with teenagers and young adults particularly rewarding. her current areas of focus are weight, hormones and food and their effects on self esteem and also body image of menopausal women.
Sally Burke BSc Hons, BACP (Accred), LNCP. is an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor and has a specialised interest and experience working with Trauma and Abuse issues. She is a Sensorimotor Training, one of only 27 Sensorimotor psychotherapists at this level in this country
Jeanette Bramwell NLP Master Practitioner is a life coach who work with clients through periods of transition. She believes that every person has the ability within themselves to make their lives better.

Lindy Wheeler MBACP (Accred.), UKCP Registered
In 2001, Lindy set up a Youth Counselling Service for two High Schools in Thetford, Norfolk. The Counselling Service, now part of Thetford Academy, has to date provided over 10,000 counselling hours to students who are struggling to engage fully in life and with education, and to the parents and staff who support them. Lindy is the author of the "Human Tool Box" an innovative way of working with both young people and adults. Lindy offers short and long term counselling for young people and adults, systemic family counselling, parenting advice, small and large group facilitation, workshops, seminars and training.
Lois Peachey MBACP (Accred)
Lois qualified in 2003 and is an accredited humanistic integrative counsellor who is able to work with clients in Ipswich and Woolpit. She was with a local Mind Association volunteer counselling service for six years and has worked with a wide range of clients. She can see adults on a one-to-one basis for short or long term work and can offer daytime and evening appointments.
Bill Gray, PG Dip, MA. (MBACP) CfD.
Bill qualified as a person-centred therapist at the University of East Anglia. He has worked with a local Mind organisation, St Brnabas in Norwich and the Student Counselling Service at the University of East Anglia. He considers that the relationship between client and counsellor is key in the process of change.

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

MTCIC offers a range of support to organisations to meet their responsibilities under Health and Safety requirements relating to Mental Health at work. We will help to put in place good working practices, deliver training to managers, staff and HR Departments and will offer tailor made one-to-one or group sessions. These sessions will include how to recognise mental ill health and effective ways to support staffs that are suffering, in a way that is of benefit to you both. We also offer bespoke employee support services that can include counselling,coaching/mentoring and clinical psychological assesments.

MTCIC has a range of Counsellors and Life Coaches to whom we are able to match your needs. They can see you face to face at our offices in Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich, work with you on the telephone or by Skype.
All clients are offered an initial consultation with one of our Senior Counsellors to establish the best course of treatment or therapy.
We provide counselling to individuals, including young people, or couples.
Some of the therapies on offer are Psychodynamic Person Centred, Gestalt, Integrative, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Focusing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Brief Solution Focused. We also offer Lifespan Integration therapy which works on a deep level to promote rapid healing in adults who were abused or neglected as children, PICT which assists the client to bring about rapid and positive change, Emotional Freedom Technique, an energy therapy rather like acupuncture but without the needles which can lead to remarkable alterations in the body's energy patterns and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which teaches clients to follow the inherently intelligent processes of body and mind to promote healing. It is particuarly helpful in working with the effects of trauma and abuse, emotional pain and limiting belief systems.
