About me

I offer a confidential and safe counselling service in warm, comfortable surroundings. I understand the importance of personal issues and how difficult it is at times to discuss them and share them with someone, taking the first step is always hard, we are here to help facilitate this leading to further steps to the future you desire.

My expertise lies in helping people explore their issues, assisting you in finding answers and unlocking solutions to help you soothe and overcome your personal issues, placing you where you want to be.

Some of the issues that we address are: Anxiety, anger, abuse, addictions, bereavement and loss, confidence, depression, health issues, marital issues, motivation issues, OCD, panic attacks, relationships, self-esteem issues, self-harm, sex related issues, trauma, workplace stress, ex-forces.

I specialise in drug and alcohol issues and treat every client with an addiction issue in a person-centred way, which means every approach is tailored to suit you specifically as everyone has a different past and various approaches suit everyone differently.

I work with ALL drug addictions from Alcohol, Opiates, Cocaine, Crack, Cannabis, Ketamine and Amphetamine to prescription medication. We do not facilitate a detox service but are able to signpost you to a relevant service that can facilitate this if necessary, meanwhile we are able to work with you with a 121 approach providing you counselling.

Progressive steps counselling is conveniently based in Braintree, Essex. Located near bus routes and within walking distance from Braintree train station. There is free car parking located nearby followed by a 1 min walk making it easy access for all of Essex and London.

I am a qualified/certified counsellor, members of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) adhering to BACP code of ethics. I have extensive experience working within the NHS, Mental Health Sectors, Community Mental Health Sectors, Drug and Alcohol Services and Addiction Rehabilitation Centres.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
