About me

Hello, first, let me introduce myself. My name is Marlon, and I am an Integrative Counsellor, which essentially means that I am able to adapt my therapeutic approach to meet your needs. This enables me to tailor our work together to ensure that you are receiving the very best support that is unique to you.

I offer both short-term and longer-term support, and I have a wealth of experience in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, addictions, bereavement and low self-esteem. This, however, is not an exhaustive list.

I am a member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP www.bacp.co.uk) and abide by their ethical framework. Providing a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients is essential within my work. This offers you the opportunity to explore the challenges that you are facing in a trusted and safe environment.

Over the years, I have learned that despite it being the 21st century, very often, men particularly find it incredibly difficult to speak about the challenges that they are facing in life.  This can often be because they feel that they are not heard, and they can often feel under pressure to keep up a certain persona, where it is taboo or frowned upon to talk about emotions and feelings. This can also be the case for the LGBTQ+ community together with people who are living with disabilities, whether there be physical, learning, psychological and also not forgetting the complexities for the neurodiverse community who usually  don't feel heard or supported.

Diversity is really important to me as essentially we are all equal and deserve to be treated as such. My passion is to provide a space for people who are struggling to feel heard or maybe even struggling to speak and support them on this journey called life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
