About me

I find being an older Counsellor a great advantage as I bring decades of life experience and understanding to my practice. I provide an accepting, welcoming environment, enabling you to feel comfortable and relaxed. I work with the emotions and experiences that we all live with  anxiety, loneliness, not 'being understood'. I appreciate the knocks that life gives us and will work with you to enable you to appreciate your strengths and resources; helping you to understand who you really are and how you can move on.

We never know what life will throw at us and counselling can provide that confidential space to examine ourselves, our feelings and our options. Nothing shocks a Counsellor! I will  support you through both chronic and short-term difficulties, enabling you to see your situation with new eyes.

As a wife and mother, I have experienced most of life's 'rites of passage' and together with my training, specialize in these life experiences, including trauma, and the relationships that surround them.

My spiritual orientation is Christian, but this does not intrude into the sessions unless clients wish it.

I have enhanced DBS clearance.

I am trained to provide remote counselling and following the success of this method during the pandemic, now work solely online., over Zoom .It allows a greater flexibility of appointment times for clients and has proved to be very popular with them. No Zoom account is needed as the link will be sent to you the day beforehand.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My way of working is designed to make the client to feel safe and  supported Also to help them understand how they can move on and deal with the difficulties that seem to dog them. At times it will involve a certain amount of psychoeducation, the principles behind relationships and our responses to our many, varied experiences and how they can affect us in the years following. The client will be free to address what they want to discuss  and is welcome to ask about anything that seems unclear to them.

Clients enquiring will be sent a Word document outlining what to expect in a session with me.
