About me
My name is Margaret Gray and I am a fully qualified, BACP registered and experienced counsellor/psychotherapist, specialising in person centred therapy.
I offer therapeutic support to anyone aged 6 years and above and can do so remotely, through such apps as Zoom, or face to face.
I understand the need for a good therapeutic relationship and am a firm believer that having an environment which is accepting, empathic and genuine will allow you to recognise and achieve your goals. I offer a warm, confidential, and non judgmental environment to talk and truly be heard. I work in a way that empowers you to develop the skills and the confidence needed to bring about long lasting, positive change.
Whether an adult, young person or child, if you are dealt bitter blows and change it can not only be hard but can be difficult to process on your own.
You may be experiencing anxiety, panic disorder or depression. Feeling sad and hurt, or have a deep sense of longing, frustration or anger? Perhaps your future feels like an uphill struggle where you are losing motivation. Maybe you have suffered emotional or physical abuse or trauma? Changes to family dynamics either through separation, betrayal or death can leave you with feelings of darkness and fear. Workplace bullying or harassment can impact self esteem and confidence, making daily life a struggle.
At times when daily activities become overwhelming and what you perceive to be the smallest things that are getting to you, you may feel life can become too much. You do not have to go through these struggles alone. I can share them with you.
I have experience of working in short, medium and longer-term therapy with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and individual difficulties. These include, but are not limited to, anxiety, all aspects of domestic abuse, bereavement, cancers, rape, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, work related stress, frustration, historical sexual abuse, profound sadness and depression. I work with both adults and young persons. This list is not exhaustive and as a confident and ethical practitioner I can offer you a place to explore whatever it is you would like to bring.

I have gained experience working in private practice and with Womens Aid, the Samaritans, S.M.I.L.E Counselling and Cancer Support Scotland.
I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I work from home in the Wester Inch area of Bathgate, easily accessed by the M8 from either Junction 4 or Junction 3a.
Please note that I cannot offer waiting room facilities.
