About me

Are you struggling to make sense of difficult family relationships, children leaving home, midlife changes or gender?  I specialise in family relationships, historical trauma, menopause and gender transitioning.

My name is Maitena Anda and I believe I can help you.

Counselling Psychotherapy can provide a confidential time and place for you to explore events and issues in your life.  Together we can examine your relationships, your thoughts, your feelings and anything that might be confusing, painful or worrying.  Your trust will be received without judgement or prejudice.

My approach is one that validates people’s experience and feelings.  As your Counsellor Psychotherapist, I’m committed to working alongside you to identify the changes that you would like to have happen and to work with you to improve your well-being. I am empathic and non-judgemental.   I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University accredited by the BACP.   I am qualified to Level 7 as an integrative relational Counsellor Psychotherapist.  I have the knowledge and experience of several models of counselling and psychotherapy.  I can integrate the most appropriate approaches to suit your individual needs.  It was during my time as a Listener Volunteer for the Samaritans, providing support to people in crisis, that I realised Counselling Psychotherapy was my true calling.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP Registered) and committed to working to the standards set out in the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.  I hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate.  Client information is protected following the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
