About me

I am a qualified person-centred therapist and supervisor with 20 years’ experience working with a wide range of clients. I am a registered counsellor with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists) ) and as a registered member I am bound by the BACP code of ethics.

My passion was to work with young people and their families and in 2003 I started a counselling practice in a secondary school, during the seventeen years of this work I was privileged to gain a great understanding of working with the challenging issues that affect the lives of families today, either from the young person’s perspective or parents/carers.   Through my experiences I have grown confident in dealing with some of the most challenging issues that our lives often present.

I further expanded my work into couple counselling as this seemed to naturally fit my skills and experience of working with families.

My counselling technique is based on the person-centred approach,  I believe the counselling relationship is fundamental to the success of the work I do with my clients.

I am a creative individual who has been able to incorporate creativity into my practice through the medium of art, play or the written word, this works well with any age group and is useful when a client is unable to express or communicate their feelings.

My sessions are tailor-made to suit the situation of each individual or couple, this will be established during an initial assessment. My assessments are free to establish your needs and to identify if I am the right counsellor for you. It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
