About me
Hello there! My name is Dr Lynda Foulder-Hughes. I am a Psychotherapist who works holistically and integratively. My original (starting point) training was as an Occupational Therapist (OT), qualifying back in 1991. I retired as an OT in 2019 in order to focus solely on my Psychotherapy practice.
I believe that there is no difficulty in life that cannot be overcome! I provide a compassionate and holistic approach to help people recover from past traumas and current emotional difficulties; so that they can move into the future in a positive and hopeful way. Achieving post-traumatic growth (PTG) following treatment is an important part of my approach. I am a highly empathetic, experienced, and educated professional, who genuinely cares.
I have over 30 years of successful practice experience with adults, young people and children in hospitals, clinics, social care, voluntary organisations, education settings and television.
I see people either face to face at my tranquil practice in Kingsbury Episcopi in South Somerset, or online via Zoom.
I offer a holistic and integrative psychotherapy service. Each person I work with is unique, and so is their therapy! Therefore, there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" approach. I am trained in a wide range of different psychological modalities, several of which are also core approaches recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence): Person Centred/ Humanistic Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash Technique (FT), Rewind trauma therapy, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Meridian Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Meditation, Shadow work, Inner Child work and Transpersonal Psychology (Metaphysical Sciences).
I am an accredited member of the UKAHPP which holds PSA regulation. I am fully insured to practice and I receive regular monthly supervision from a fellow experienced supervisor, who is also educated to PhD level.
I have won awards for my work. In 2015 I was named as one of Newsweek Magazine's "21st Century Professionals" across two editions!
In addition to my therapy work, I am a published author. My seminal work on working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (which was published in 1998), continues to be an influential piece of research, which has helped many people. My holistic self-help book "REMIND- The Prescription for Happiness, Success and Fulfilment in Life" was published in 2023.
I was involved in developing the hugely successful (twice BAFTA nominated) global children`s television series, Tree Fu Tom, at the BBC. The show was screened in over 120 countries around the World (my name is credited on every episode).
I have many years of experience as a clinical supervisor. I offer supervision to qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.
Get in touch if you feel I am the right "fit" for you!

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
UKAHPP is a national accrediting organisation for all those who apply the theories of Humanistic Psychology in their work. The UKAHPP is an independent member organisation of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the UK Register of Counsellors.
The Association is made up of a number of different membership classes e.g. Associate Members, Affiliate Members, Full Members, each with different requirements for entry. Full Members may use the initials 'MAHPP' after their names, and have undergone a rigorous accreditation procedure relevant to their discipline.
All members of the Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners must commit to acceptance of the UKAHPP Code of Ethical Principles, the UKAHPP Code of Practice, the UKAHPP Ethical Review Procedure and the UKAHPP Complaints Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Group therapy from £95 per hour.
Medico-legal, court, police, insurance, and compensation therapy work £100 per hour.
Supervision for therapists is £75 per 90 minute monthly session.
My sessions last for upto 1 hour (rather than the standard 50 minute model used by some therapists)

Also, due to the high level of enquiries I receive, I am not able to offer free initial telephone calls/ "taster" sessions. The initial session is the place where we can meet and you can raise any questions about therapy, or to decide whether we can be the right "fit". The fee scale is as above.
