About me

There are many reasons why people decide to engage with therapy. Perhaps there is a specific issue that you would like to address, or you may wish to explore patterns and ways of being that no longer serve you. You may feel overwhelmed by your emotions or even disconnected from them. Maybe you just need a confidential space, free from judgement, where you can be heard as you process what is on your mind. Whatever brings you to counselling, I will work to understand what it is like to be you and to walk in your shoes. I will support you as you deepen your self-awareness and perhaps consider changes you would like to make.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified and experienced Humanistic Counsellor with full BACP registration. I work integratively, which means I draw on a range of theoretical perspectives including (but not limited to) Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Attachment Theory. I have experience of working with the following: anger, anxiety, ASC, low self-esteem, bereavement/loss, depression, family/relationship issues, birth stories, illness, mid-life identity, ageing, stress, neuro-diversity, career challenges. I have had specialist training to work with with women who would like support with peri-menopause/menopause symptoms.

Prior to establishing my private practice, I worked for a hospice in West Sussex, supporting those wanting to work through a bereavement.

I have a background in state education, so have a good understanding of the challenges facing school staff and how this can impact life outside of school.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

My own experience of therapy has taught me the value of being truly seen and heard and how this invites self-acceptance. This process has enabled me to evaluate how events in my life and the weight of expectation have influenced me, and then begin to forge my own path with increased confidence.
